Is this a sign of having termites in Your Home?
I am living with my mother in her mobile home and it is made of completely wood, no drywall or anything just wood.I have been finding these piles on the floor they look like sand, but they consist of mostly black granules and some tan(like the color of wood). I am not sure what the signs of having termites is but that is the first thing that came to my mind when I saw those piles.Does anyone know for sure if this is a sign?
That sounds very much like the frass (poo) of drywood termites. These live in little colonies in a piece of wood and dump their waste out of little holes. Check for the holes.
Control is usually fumigation but if your home is truly mobile, you could go north and freeze them.
Some companies will try to treat each piece of wood but that usually leaves some colonies and in a mobile, you don't have a lot of spare timber in the framing.
Collect some and take it to a pest controller and ask. It is easy to tell.
Lars says it might be carpenter ants. If it is, the trash is a lot more variable than the pepper-like termite frass as it also contains food wastes and dead insect bits. Carpenter ants tend to be where there are leaks wetting the wood. A fumigation will kill them too, but you should have the waterproofing checked.
For a fumigation, you'll need to move out for a few days while they wrap the trailer and gas it out.
