Wiccan Rede
What are the most important norms of the wiccan religion?
I am doing a research project in school on Wicca subcultures.. I've read a lot about the golden rule and the wiccan rede... would those be considered the "norms" of wicca?
1) Wicca isn't a subculture. It's a religion to which people from many different subcultures belong. Please, tell me you're not one of those people who thinks that Wicca = Goth...
2) The Golden Rule is not part of the Wiccan faith. The Wiccan Rede is a defining characteristic of those following the Wiccan faith, but even among Wiccans the precise meaning of it is hotly debated.
3) If I had to give a list of what characterizes Wicca as a religion, I'd say:
a) Honoring and adoring the Goddess and the God of our faith;
b) Serving Them as Their clergy;
c) Worshipping in a particular style unique to Wicca;
d) Observing the sabbats (solar festivals) and the esbats (lunar festivals);
e) Choosing to abide by the Wiccan Rede.
