Self Dedication Ritual help in Wicca?
In Wicca, are you supposed to perform your self dedication ritual and after the ritual study for a year and a day? Or do you study for a year and a day, and then perform your self dedication ritual? So basically in other words, is the year and a day thing before or after the self dedication ritual? I am a solitary and would follow an eclectic path. Please help me with this, I'm confused. Thanks. No negative comments please(:
You would usually wait a year and a day before doing a self-initiation ritual. However, some see a difference between dedication and initiation - dedication being when you dedicate yourself to Wicca, and initiation when you have completed a year and a day of learning the Craft.
Personally, I performed my self-dedication ritual shortly after I began practicing the Craft - though only after I was certain I did actually want to dedicate myself to this particular path. A dedication is a spiritual commitment to yourself, to your path, and to Deity - to continue to grow in your knowledge of the Craft, to continue to practice the Craft, and to continue to deepen your connection to Deity (in whatever form Deity may appear to you).
