Do herbs have elements other than just earth? (In Wicca)?
Are some herbs associated with working certain elements in magick or are they all earth?
Both.
All herbs, by virtue of being herbs, relate to earth. However, they also (normally) have a secondary element.
Imagine a circle cut into 4 quarters. One part of each represents one of the 4 basic elements. However, now imagine that we cut each of those quarters into 4 quarters. Now you have an Earth-earth section, an Earth-Air section, an Earth-fire section and an Earth-water section. Each herb would fall under the Earth- section, but it may or may not fall into the same sub-section.
Examples: Lavender is part of the Air element. so it would be able to be used as either a representative of Earth, Air, or both Earth and Air at once.
Learning the secondary elements of items will help a great deal in designing and creating Your Own personal, unique, rituals.
You could design a ritual or spell that runs totally on herbs by using the secondary elements of the herbs. Instead of using an incense for air, a candle for fire and a bowl of water for water, you could use lavender to represent air, juniper for fire and lettuce for water.
These sub-categories also work for stones, candles, types of water and tons of other items.
