How to heal my family's cancer?

My dad had cancer a few years ago and he is healed now. He still has a lot of eating issues since it was esophageal. Now, my family is very distant and when we talk, it's usually just about the economy or school. We never really act close. I have this weird thing where I NEVER say I Love You to them. Which I cant say I do, because my parents abandoned my brother and I for months while he was in the hospital. Im not even sure what Im asking but I just dont know what to do, it's been 3 years.

Abandoned you? When your father was in the fight of his life?? You are self centered. Good grief-you are lucky to still have him. Obviously he is still suffering from side effects, so try being supportive instead of whining. Just start telling him You Love him every time you leave. Make it automatic,too. After the first couple of times it will be easy. And start telling your Mom,too. She fought through this with him. I only wish my Aunt had made it through her bout with esophageal cancer. She only lived 5 months, start to finish. We wouldn't have cared how long she had to "abandon" us-neither would her daughter who still grieves.
