Ok, If some seem to think Mermaids are fish, why do they wear seashells?
fish do not have developed mammary glands, and you should check your folklore of the North Atlantic and North Sea-Like the Orkney Islands, Faroe Islands, Ireland, Iceland, Scotland only Disney says mermaids are scaly.
I can assure you that Faroese and Icelandic mermaids do not cover their boobage. We Nordic types have no problems with topless womenfolk of any variety. We also do not have a problem with nudity in general. It's a cultural thing.
Edit: A Selkie is a mythological creature that can shed its seal skin to reveal the human form within. The Selkie, and other similar creatures, are common in the tales of seafaring peoples and island nations. So it's NOT just a seal.
