Where does the tradition of kings/queens wearing a crown come from?
I'm interested because I was watching a video where the king had an emerald on the front of his gold circlet, and it sat directly over his brow chakra. Having a crystal (especially an amethyst or other purpose stone) over the brow chakra would help a person's intuition and ability to make insightful judgments. I was wondering if there is any historical evidence for a mystical reason for the circlet of kings and queens.

typo - sorry, an amethyst is a PURPLE stone, not a purpose one, lol.
I am not sure that the origin of the crown is clearly known. My source below (seach for "origin of the crown") advances the plausible theory that it was an aureole representing the sun. Given that the Egyptians used various headdresses to symbolize royalty and that they believed in the supremacy of Ra, the sun god, the explanation makes sense. At least it is a point of departure.
