Spiritual Animal
What person or animal represents to you a model of spiritual diligence? And explain...?
i'm an air sign, so i love eagles, hawks, and owls (known as the night eagle)...for their far seeing ability and their ability to get "above it all" and metaphorically draw nearer to Source. For years i couldn't go for a walk or hike without being offered the gift of a bird feather of One Kind or another, including crow, turkey (representing "Giveaway Eagle"), and other smaller birds, Even now a hawk is present to me occasionally when i leave my house and has left a feather gift for me..
But, my more personal animal is the turtle...slow and methodical, grounded, sincere, and able to "go within" by withdrawing into its shell...it carries its temple sanctuary with it and is able to retreat from the world when it needs to do so. Turtle is considered the oldest symbol for Mother Earth and the Goddess energy in many Native American teachings.
