Salt Crystal
How do you make a salt crystal grow more?
Do you put the crystal in another jar with the same jar? or do I leave it there?
Your objective here is to make a solution that will allow more salt to deposit onto an existing crystal, and this is most easily done with a super-saturated solution. If you super-saturate a solution, then as soon as the solution cools, the excess salt will precipitate onto any existing crystal surfaces.
1. Pour out the liquid that the salt crystal has grown in, and conserve it in a pot, this is your starting (saturated salt solution)
2. Add TINY amounts of salt to it slowly, MAKING SURE IT IS ALL DISSOLVED. (If there is any undissolved salt, more crystals will start to form instead of it growing the original crystal once you add it back into the jar.)
3. After the liquid as cooled slightly, add it back into the jar where the existing crystal is.
4.Place the jar in a cool place overnight, and I guarantee that crystal will be HUGE by the next morning.
