What are rune stones adn their connection to Danish King Harald Blatand?
The Jelling stones - Jelling-stenene in Danish - consist of two carved rune stones from the 10th century.
The runic stones were erected at Jelling, a small Danish town near Vejle.
One of these was raised by King Gorm the Old (Gorm den Gamle in Danish), the father of King Harald Blåtand (Harald Bluetooth in English) in memory of his wife, Queen Thyra, and the other was raised by King Harald in memory of his parents, King Gorm and Queen Thyra, called Danebod.
They're still a popular tourist attraction in Jelling, and they're also listed on the World Heritage List.
