Pagan Alter
I'm confused about 1 Kings Chapter 13 can someone explain?
To much to post so I'll paraphrase it, if I'm not politically correct in my version I'm sorry it's not due to lack of trying.
There's a "Man of God" who comes and speaks out against a pagan alter, his name is never given. The King ask him to come eat with him but the man says he can't, he was told by "The Word of God" to return home the way he came or he would die.
Some old prophet hears about it, goes to the man and tells him a lie "The Word of God" told me to have you come eat with me.
The "Man of God" goes with the prophet and the "Word of God" comes to the lying prophet and tells the "Man of God" he'll die for not obeying.
The "Man of God" then leaves and is killed by a Lion.
Why would the "Word of God" come to a liar?
Why is the "Man of God" killed and not the lying prophet?
Almost nothing about this story seems right.
Please explain to this confused atheist.
The stories in the bible are like this (not all) and for good reason. They are showing us what lies look like and so teach us to be on guard, for there is a very subtle lie in front of each of us, yet few have found it out and are working away at the solution. The Word can't come to a liar for there is no lie in Truth. When stories don't make sense, then dig for the spiritual signification of the event. Sometimes one reads a story 100 times, and then the next time sees.
