Should a professor lose his appointed position for disagreeing with racial preferences for diversity reasons?
"A St. Louis scientist who was among a select group picked by the Obama administration to pursue a solution to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has been removed from the group because of writings on his website, the U.S. Energy Department confirmed Wednesday."
His comment:
“The diversity movement is racist at its core,” he writes. “When dealing with people we should be concerned with intellect, talent, character and accomplishment. People aren’t dogs or cattle; race matters only to racists.”
No way should he lose his position. The professor's statement was absolutely correct. Those in authority don't like to be shown to be wrong even if their being wrong is patently obvious.
"Diversity movement" sounds great until you think about it just a little bit. What this movement is without saying so is reverse discrimination to achieve a goal. It disregards qualification or relegates qualifications to a subservient consideration with race being the primary consideration.
