Mythical Dragon
Why are dragons usually portrayed as evil mythical creatures in the west?
While they are portrayed as "good" in the eastern world?
newdaddy22, eastern dragons and western dragons look different...Eastern ones look like snakes, while western ones look like dinosaurs..SO i disagree that it came directly from the east...Although the west could have altered the looks.
I'm guessing has to do with the fact that dragons are used in the bible to symbolize evil, as well as snakes, etc.
The dragon Leviathan was posessed by the devil to scare Job out of his religion, and then there is the 12 headed dragon that represents Satan in the book of Revelations. Now sometime in history(not sure when it was), christianity was declared the official religion in the US, which meant that they adopted the beliefs, and in my opinion, meant that suddenly all dragons were portrayed as evil.
