Question about home microdermbrasion kits?
What is the difference between the ones you massage in yourself compared with lets say a Neutrogena kit with the wand? Which is better? Can You Can get the same benefits from them?

Ive had alot of different home derm kits and systems over the years.....I have never actually owned one of the ones with a wand or battery operated scrubber, however I will never need one! I found the best kit ever and have been using it for 2 years. Its Lancome's Resurface-C Microdermibrasion kit. It uses angular crystals to remove rough and uneven skin, and it doesn't burn or sting. The kit is expensive to start out with (about $70) but I will vouch for it and tell you its worth every cent and then some. After the first time I used it, there was a HUGE difference in how my skin looked and felt. I had compliments on my skin after I used it ONLY ONCE! They recommend this to people who get the professional micro-derm treatments, for in-between visit upkeep. It really works.
I will give you one of the 'trade secrets'. Lancome is Loreal. So if you don't have the money to get Resurface-C, you might want to try Loreal's 2 step home kit. Ive never tried it myself yet (been curious but too happy w/ Resurface to try it). It is probably very similar and it is only around $20.
If you do decide to buy one of the 'wand' ones, I would just be extremely careful. It looks like it would be really easy to get carried away and scrub too much, and end up red and raw. Also remember that with any derm kit, it is important that you use an SPF during daytime so you don't burn.
F.Y.I.- In case you were curious about the other options out there; Ive listed all the other kits Ive had. This will give you an idea of whats out there.
Elizabeth Arden's Peel And Reveal
-Did nothing, like Elmer's glue that smells good, you peel it off. More of an at-home spa treatment than derm kit. Don't bother, I don't recommend this to my customers ever.
Estee Lauder's Idealist Products
-Not great, more of creams and cleansers but they don't really smooth your skin out like a scrub can. Another down side is its a morning and night regime. Its not a one-step system. Plus it requires you to buy several different products.
Clinique's Total Turnaround
-Ok, but like Estee's, good to use for in-between treatments though if you have a derm kit already. Its cheaper than Estee's, but you still don't get alot of effect for your money.
Lancome's Resurface Peel
-This is an actual acid peel. It is being discontinued and for good reason, it did absolutely nothing. It was a way to waste $100+ dollars and thats all it was. Don't buy it.
Just be very careful, I don't Want You to end up looking like raw meat. If you ever have any questions regarding derm kits, ALWAYS CONSULT A DERMATOLOGIST.
