How much does Polyurethane resin act like Human Skull?
Will it break like a skull would? Recieve the impact from a weapon like a skull would?
If not, what would be the material that acts the most like bone?
Polyurethane resins cover a wide variety of different plastics, but I assume that you are talking about the ones that are used for casting (such as for Museum quality replicas).
No, they would not act (react) to weapon impact like a human skull would. The damage inflected would not be similar because of the huge differences in physical properties. The Density, Abrasion Resistance and Impact Resistance are all different.
Nothing reacts like bone except other bones. The internal structure and chemical composition of bone is so unique. Before the collection of actual specimens for forensic purposes, animal skulls were often used to simulate human skulls for weapon damage analysis.
The fracture patterns, amount of damage and durability would be slightly different, but still provide useful information. Depending upon the source, partially damaged skulls could be used for some projects. I am also told that lamb skulls (from a slaughterhouse) have been used with good results.
