What do you think of uing the opposite sex s a god or goddess?
I was thinking of using Demeter as my goddess on my altar and just wanted to know what other wicans thought about it..I love greek mythology and I like the fact that shes All About the growth of crops and plants and other things.....who is your god or goddess on your altar if any?
As a christian you should grow up.
For sure, pick what you are most comfortable with, the gender stuff is no issue, in fact, many prefer to work with opposite gender deities to balance the yin/yang in their practices.
The Greeks were happily pantheistic, and in their time would worship and work with whichever Gods and Goddesses seemed appropriate to them at the time, so no need to limit to just one, although working with small numbers does help to keep a clearer focus when you are starting out.
Demeter is a great choice too, nurturing and compassionate and creative, are you a country person perhaps? She was most beloved of the country folk.
