Fish Wall
Could my Betta be flaring because of fish paintings on the wall?
I don't know if I should take them down or not. They are cut-outs of big fish that my little brother colored for me. They're right by the tank and my Betta is in a tank in between two big cut-outs.
Does my Betta notice them? He's flaring but he seems happy. I had him in a smaller tank yesterday and he wasn't doing anything but floating around. Now, he's swimming about and around the plants.
I doubt that your betta percieves them as other fish, but if they are bright colors, he might be threatened by them, causing him to flare up. It also may just be his reflection.
Two things you could do:
move the cut-outs
(if you don't think it's his reflection)
and/or
go to your local petstore (or even use construction paper) and get a tank background, tape it to the back and sides, this will make it impossible to see the cut-outs and make the tank look really cool while also making the fish inable to see his reflection in the glass.
I would reccomend going to the petstore and getting a background that has a picture of lots of plants, stones etc. because if it is a busy background instead of a solid one, it makes it pretty impossible for them to see their reflection in the glass. You could try construction paper, but use a lighter color because using a dark blue or black etc. will make their reflection really obvious and not help the problem. You could maybe print off a cool design and use that- a cheaper resolve.
