What's the best successful egg-drop contraption?

I heard that shoving it into a stuffed animal and taping the head back on would work..
My partner and I were thinking about a Styrofoam ball, cutting it in half, carving a place for the egg, and taping it back together.

What's the difference between a stuffed animal and a styrofoam ball? Which one is better for hugging? Which one would you want to fall on?

The egg-drop challenge is about the management of energy. You either dissipate the energy during the fall (parachute, etc) or absorb it during the impact (stuffed animal).

How about a mix? stuffed animal with parachute? large light box full of foam peanuts?

Biggest help I can give you is to TEST some approaches and see what works instead of waiting until the night before and sticking something together and hoping for the best.
