How can I persuade my mum to let me get a ball-jointed doll?
She thinks they're just like barbies and they're stupid no matter how much i tell her they are beautifully made and intended for adults and I'd use them for photography. I want Homme Ducan from Dream of Doll. I have enough money in my savings and I really want one but she says its a complete waste of money. Help?

How old are you? If it's your money (and you EARNED it), go and buy it and say, sorry Mum, I respect you, but it's my money, and I feel that I am responsible enough to make decisions for myself.
If however, the money is a trust fund that your parents have some input into, then you'd be better to respect her wishes.
Maybe you need to show her some examples of the work you've seen them involved in, and ease her worry. What are you intending to use it for? They are pretty beautiful, and if you really want one and don't think she gets it, then maybe you have to decide whether You Can live without one, or whether you'll resent her for being a control freak, or if you can be adult enough about going Your Own way and getting one, and then maybe joining a club so that you can share your interests with people who are also into the dolls.
