Confidence Success
Do you know anyone who "has it all"? (looks, smarts, confidence, success, emotional stability, money)
A friend of mine has it all. He is extremely good looking, great at sports, has tons of friends, a great family and wife, a successful career, a beautiful home, a real Self Confidence, poise, manners, morals and luck. He has to be the most impressive individual I have ever seen. It seems like he has it all. I have known him for 20 years and have never seen him struggle ever for anything. It just seems like everything is just handed to him on a silver platter. He has the midas touch.
Do you know anyone who has it all? How about you?
Sometimes it may seem that you have nothing while others have more than they want or need, and it seems unfair that they have been given so abundantly and we have been given the scanty leftovers. However, I know that behind closed doors these people don't have the perfect lives they seem to have. For one thing, we've all heard stories about "happy families" being found out to in reality be quite unhappy and unhealthy. I think this happens more often than not. Remember what Tolstoy said: "One can live magnificently if one knows how to work and how to love" and that's true. Happiness doesn't consist of power, a good reputation, and external beauty. It doesn't consist of comfort and luxury. It doesn't consist of having everyone envy you. Happiness is fleeting, and most people never realize that until they find themselves where they once dreamed of being and they're surprised to find that they were happier before they got there. Having it all steals your joy and your sense of industry. It makes you believe that you don't have to try anymore.
It also draws people away from the Lord--they don't think they need Him anymore because they think they can now sustain themselves nicely. There is a psalm that says to pray that God give you enough to take care of your needs so you won't have to steal, but not too much that you forget who He is. I pray that prayer. I also pray that I will not think I need more than what He has given me.
It's not easy living in this world, let me say that right now. It's hard to see how much others have and not to want what they have. It's hard to keep yourself from being judgmental that someone else has more than you, yet keeps it all to themselves. But remember that these people hurt, too, and they may not even be as happy as you are. They don't know how to appreciate their success. So pray for them and be compassionate, even though they may be greedy or boastful. Remember that you are blessed in a different way and that they may not feel blessed at all.
