Bust Figurine
Fondant Question of Time!!!?
I am making a Slipknot cake for my nephews 14th birthday on June 15th. My aim was to make the bust of each musician (so just the mask) out of fondant and stick them on top of the cake. This is obviously going to take time, so I was wondering how far ahead of time can I make the figurines? I want them to look nice, not dried out or anything. How would I store them for long periods of time? I'm using Satin Ice brand fondant (vanilla) with food coloring.
You Can store fondant figures for years, as long as they're protected from light, dust and moisture. You could certainly make the figures now, and store them in a box until you need them. I have a fondant pistol that I made two years ago that still looks just like the day I made it.
