Altar Chalice
Samhain: Can anybody give me a straightforward easy quick ritual for a solitary?
I don't want anything complicated or big, such as setting up an altar full of candles, pagan dieties, athame, chalice etc, as I don't have all the equipment.
Something like a simple chant or small candle ritual would be good.
Instead of an elaborate altar, just go out and pick some colorful leaves and an autumn fruit or two. Put them on the table, just to commemorate the occasion and get in the mood a bit. A candle might help the atmosphere, but you don't have to use.
Have a glass of cider, pumpkin juice of something with a similar "autumn" feel to it. Then just close your eyes, calm down and say quiet thanks to the nature for all the food and fruit she is giving us in the autumn. It is a time of her slowing down and going to sleep, but also a time of greatest abundance, so it's a bitter-sweet celebration, the end of harvest and the beginning of winter.
Have a sip of your drink and take the rest outside, pour it on the earth so you give a gift back to nature for all she's given you.
This is the very simplest form of saying "thanks" for all we've got.
